Save Our South Dragons

has anyone heard that the dragons will be changing names for next season?

i dont know what to but i read from some guy on sportal that we are changing.

personally i think it is absloute bullshit thinking, why would you do this to all the fans? we have made a name for ourselves this season now we're gona change??

it worked really well for the spirit didnt it....

NO WAY!! TELL ME THIS ISNT TRUE! There is no way this would happen! Seriously Cowan has spent so much money on getting our name a household name!!

I'm going to try to see if there is any truth to this, but it would defitely put me off big time! If this is true, have they not learnt anything??? I promised myself if they changed i would never support the NBL again, but i Just predict  that this is wrong,and prbably started by a Angry Melbourne Tigers supporter!

I promised myself that South Dragons is the last team ill support in national league and if the name changes i will no longer support this "franchise".

Its most likely a bs story though.

Yeah i just wont be supporting basketball anymore!! Even though it seems hypocritical as i want the ex magic and giants supporters to jump on board, I'm just sick of getting really passionate about one team, than it folding

But I'm almost 100% sure this is bullshi!. Cowan has put like 5 mil into promoting this club and getting name recognition so find it very unlikely!! Even more considering we just won the championship!

Why should we buy all Dragons merch over 3 years and expect to buy more crap because of a new name. The side would die within a season if that happened.

I would support basketball in Australia but only the Boomers and occasionally watching WNBL on tv.

There is no way that the NBL can continue to do the same things that have failed them in the past!! I know that this can't be true but if it is true that is the end!! I agree with you guys above, there is no way I could follow the NBL again if they were to do this! enough is enough

Cowan at the Awards night assured me that Dragons will always be Dragons but other teams could change

well their is now the suggestion that the newnbl could force clubs to change their names. I understand why, yet i hope they do not force us as we are a new club, with a new brand which has been heavily invested in. It would be ludicrious to make us change our name when we are getting stronger and just won the championship, but who knows they probably will. It seems we are going to have a new team, with a new name and a new home.. Not sure whether i like this very much

where it would be better to have an entire new league there has been acceptance of teams keeping their names,so its not a full revamp just an overhaul.

well hopefully they dont mess with the Dragons. we are the South Dragons and that is it. Maybe they should change the Tigers name!!!!
